As an avid street and trail runner in New York, it is not uncommon to be out running after dark in areas where cyclists, cabs, and even other runners can be hazards. Reflective gear is nice, but it requires a light source at the right distance and angle to be effective. I’ve been experimenting with adding active lighting to my running gear for greater visibility. Shown here is the best result, a lightweight nylon ripstop vest. Adding EL piping to my running pants is also a favorite, but avoiding seam wobble is tough.
